Is there an average depth from the surface of the water to the tie beams of bridge columns from lake to lake? Just asking because I don't get to fish more than two lakes right now.
I would rather die finding out there was no God than die finding out there is.

Nope. The depth varies from bridge to bridge, lake to lake. And of course the individual lake level is a factor too. A lot of the newer bridges dont even have crossmembers.

Thanks Tod, that's what I expected but wasn't sure. Makes sense.

Go to the office of Texas Dept. Of Transportation (same county the bridge is in) and ask for a copy of the Bridge Layout . Tie beam elevations will be on the Layout Sheet. And it is FREE..

As a structural ironworker, I've built a bridge or 2.. and he's right most bridges built in the last decade don't have em, and depending on the size of the bridge it goes back further than that. Some lakes like CC I believe will have some bridges with em and some without. But theyre measured from bottom up, bot from surface down so there's no way guesstimate that. I love fishin a bridge that has em though, that 198 caney city bridge on CC is on of my favorites

Good information from you both Keith and JIG'N'FOOL. Thanks, it's good to know that they have stopped building them with the tie beams so I don't spend a lot of time looking for them on the newer ones. Thanks again.
