Well, I checked out the launch spot today. Wow That's almost a straight drop with nothing but water at the bottom. I could probably launch from there, but I don't think my brother could in my pelican. If you can't stand in your yak, I don't think you can launch from there. Picture. This is another spot I found. I think someone might have mentioned it. Its off Northside. Its got an easy launch, but a heck of a hill. I would rather launch here, and just help each other with the yaks. I've got a cart that will fit any boat. ((Update, Looks like several of the Vets say the first launch should be do'able. I'm up for it. ))

That spot on northside looks like it is only ~100 feet away. I could deal with a hill
Is there somewhere to park around there though?
Also looks like a spillway we would have to portage to get back to those trees where the other (steep) launch point is

Yeah, I was standing on the parking lot when I took the picture. Plenty of parking. Short walk..hill is obviously a little steep, but do'able with someone to help and/or a cart.

Yeah, the only difference is that it will put us in a different area to fish.

Yeah, that sucks. If the banks that I saw are any indication, I don't think we could portage to the other area. Might just have to roll the dice. I really am concerned that my brother won't want to make that entry though. I don't know that I could get in my pelican at that spot.

I think I might just hit the northside launch. I know we wont have those trees, but I'll feel more comfortable with the launch site.

I got to the park at 6:30, and LuvPondFishing was already launched and he actually caught a fish while I was checking out the launch area. I dropped my Commander in the water, and loaded it up. I just finished and was about to get in when Kayak_and_Crossbones showed up with his friend. Since his friend was rather new, I helped him get launched and them handed him his eq. I jumped in my yak and motored to the right for a minute, and immediately hooked a bass on a squarebill. And then it was unhooked, and I didn't get another bite for over an hour. I ended up catching 5 bass in about3-1/2 hours. LuvPondFishing caught 5 or 6 bass before I left, and also several nice gills and a catfish. KnC had to get his friend home early, and they were gone when I went back to the launch at 10:30 to check on them.
It was an hour drive for me, and although I won't make the trip frequently, I will definitely fish there again. It was a pretty setting in the middle of town. I saw 16' deep water sevral times. I went past the University bridge, and while I was visiting with a fisherman in a tube, I saw a waterskier down stream and decided I had gone far enough.
Artie ________________________________ Dad took me fishing when I was 10, and I've been pretty much hooked since. He went to be with God on August 14, 2012. I miss you, Dad.

Good morning on the water. I didn't catch anything to write home about but ended up with a good multi-species day. 5 bass but none larger than 13 inches. 20-25 bluegill plus a 15 inch channel cat and an 11 inch crappie right before quitting time.
Thanks to Daniel for the invite and enjoyed meeting and fishing with Artie. Look forward to doing it again.
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

We got there just before 7 and hit the water as quickly as we could. (Thanks to Arty for helping my brother launch.) The launch site was much easier than I thought.
We didn't have the stuff to wacky rig like they did so we were fishing a variety of lures. I used everything from frogs, buzz baits, spinners, rattles, football jigs with a crawfish, to a T-rigged lizard. Nothing. We both got skunked.
Its a great spot to fish, and we will definitely be back, but we came up with a goose egg.
Thanks again for the tip on the launch site!
