I've always wondered why B.A.S.S. Elites are not allowed to use a net. It seems like if fish care is such a concern, it would only make sense for nets to be allowed.

Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.

I like the no net rule too. Just seems right. Always looks weird when I watch an FLW tournament.

Since they always fish solo I don't see it happening. Netting a fish solo can be a adventure.

Gotta have all the drama of going round and round the boat on a 2lber then Flop down on the deck to cradle em in for the cameras.

B.a.s.s. also used to limit the guys to so much weight wort of tackle (lures) in the bassmasters classic and Ray Scott would get to go through the guys tackle and take what he wanted to get them down to the correct weight of lures allowed...LOL...I can't remember what the limit was...so not allowing a net came from this time as well...

With the new nets there would be less damage to a fish compared to flipping a 4 lb fish and hitting the deck and carpet.

I have to agree, letting these fish fall and bounce around on the deck would have to be far more harmful to a fish than the new safe nets..........

I know it looks ridiculous to me also. They run circles around the boat hollering its a big one...its a giant and then in reality its a 2lber.. its silly..

I think a 70mph run for 30 miles in a livewell full of fish is can be even more damaging. I agree though, the net restrains the fish from hurting itself more than flopping on carpet. It's amazing how tough bass are.

It's not like a fish goes catatonic when you net it. It still flops around on the deck, just in the net.

That's what cracks me up , the net is used and sometimes the bass still ends up on the deck .
