OK. I'm stuck so I'll give all the info I can up front...
1979 Mariner, 80 HP. 4 cyl in line.

Motor ran pretty well but would occasionally "sag" and die about half throttle, so we removed the carbs and cleaned them (they were fine). I also suspected the fuel line connection was leaking air so we removed it and ran the fuel line directly to the fuel pump. Pump was recently re-built. Drained the tank and put in fresh gas with some SeaFoam and Stabil.

Take it to the ramp and set the auxilary throttle up and crank. It fires as usual and I moved the aux. throttle back down. As the motor started "winding down" it seemed to just turn off. Now it will not fire no matter what I do.
Pulled plugs and no fire at all. Cylinder is wet with gas so I have fuel flow. Checked wiring at ignition switch, neutral safety switch and every where I can think of but no luck.

Can any one give me an idea where to start looking? It has 4 coils and I do not think they all went out at once...

Does not have a kill switch. Changed control box and never installed one. "Kill" wire runs straight through the wiring harness.

If it was an OMC,I would guess power pack. Might apply to Merc. also.

Might disconnect the mercury tilt switch in the motor and see if that changes anything. Check the wiring plug/socket on the motor.
