I am a small bass tournament fisherman
Not a salt water fisherman I am at Galveston for 4 days and would love to catch a lot of fish , but have no idea how to salt water fish or what tackle to use and how to work the bait once it's in water , I brought my Carolina rig G loomis rod
Please help me out on where to go and what to use and what to buy.

If you are on the seawall I would hit either 61st street pier or go down to 91st Street (Galveston Fishing Pier). You can buy frozen bait on the pier or as you are on 61st stop by a bait shop like Aunt Margies and pick up some bait shrimp or squid. You can try and pitch some silver spoons and get hold of a Spanish Mackerel as they are starting to show up

Use a Carolina rig with shrimp or squid and cast between the waves. There is a topic in the inshore section that can explain it to you alot better

Use peeled shrimp on a 1/0 hook with a 1/4 ounce egg wait set up like a carolina rig wade out to about your belly and cast you'll catch fish all day in the surf...

Wade the beach early and late, I always preferred incoming tide or the start of the outgoing. Watch for birds working the shallows. Topwater Spook or small jig head with rootbeer chartruse tailed DOA shadtails. If no success use live bait. cheers Find a local baitshop and ask for best places to fish for trout and redfish. Bass gear is perfect, 15 lb test plenty, 12 better.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Fish the rocks and the south or north jetty just like you would fish a damn embankment. Use any small plastic shad or minow on a 1/8th oz jig and look for bait or birds over bait. go get em tiger.
