My search came up empty, so here goes. I hope I don't regret asking this question, but...
I have an Abu Ambassadeur 6600 C4 that I just don't use that much. I think it is a nice reel, but really prefer my low profile baitcasts. I just couldn't get used to how it felt with a 10 or 12lb mono and light(ish) tackle. Seemed to struggle with tension being too tight or too loose. Maybe I just need more practice...
I was thinking about trying some braid on it for heavier top water use and see how it felt. Any thoughts? Could I use it for a heavy deep diver as well? It's pretty much brand new and I have had it for over 3 years. Just looking for some ideas on how to use this to its potential without driving myself insane, given limited lake time.
Thanks in advance for you reply.

Those things hold a ton of line. Spool it with 15-20 big game or invizx and throw big swimbaits or cranks with it.

First, thanks for your reply. The largest diameter I have put on it is 14lb Trilene XL Smooth Cast. My birds nests were, indeed, very smooth. As I have been looking things up on this reel, it appears I went too light all the way around. I think you are right. The only thing that I didn't like was I wish it were the slower cranking reel, not the 6.3:1. It's a fast retrieve and like you said, a LOT of line on the spool. Maybe if I ever get to 100 posts I'll try to trade it for something more practical to what I am doing! In the meantime, looks like it's going to be heavy, inexpensive line for this reel. Thanks again!

No problem. I assumed it was a slower gear ratio reel. It would still be good for swimbaits. If you put 15-20lb big game and used it for your lures that are over 1/4oz it will be a good all around reel.

It won't hold up. Went through 2 brand new ones in 1 day.

I use that reel with 80lb braid but I use it to catch big gars...
If it were me, I would use it for catfishing or big fish, its just a big heavy reel for bass fishing but that's just my opinion, maybe you can spool it with 65lb braid and use it to flip and pitch in heavy or around heavy cover!

ha I'd be down to sell or trade. I can't post it in the classifieds just yet but I do less than zero fishing for cats or anything like it. Sounds like that's where it would apply best. If anyone wants one and sees this, let me know. I may try some 65# braid on it just to see what it can do. Thanks for the replies.
