Thinking of buying a 140.Need input.Anyone got one and Id like pros and cons.I normally paddle a Ride but want the speed of a 140.Is it stable?Is it good to fish out of?Ill be using it at the Brazos and Lighthouse lakes in Aransas.Thanks in advance.

My sister-in-law uses one to fish in. Her husband uses a 160. Both fish salt in them and seem to love them

Ask Slowride when you're out at Lighthouse Lakes what he thinks of the Tarpon 140. For many years it was his favorite and what he usually guides from. One of my personal favorites for what is available today for an all around performance fishing kayak. Long enough for ease in paddling, short enough that rudder isn't needed. Plenty of stability for anything you'll be fighting from the sitting position. Plan on getting wet if standing up is important...at least until you master it.

I was going to call Dean before I buy but I wanted other opinions first.Thats what made me consider a 140 in the first place is his fleet of 140s.I also thought of a Cuda 120.

I have a Tarpon 140 rigged for fishing. It is fast and dry but torture on your lower back if you fish for extended periods of time because you sit pretty low. The seat is awesome you can adjust it during the ride to compensate not seating up. It works well on open water and small lakes. I have taken it to a few rivers but wouldn't recommend heavy rapids.

You are not going to get that much more speed from a T140 over a Ride135. I fish out of the Tarpon beside Neumie and others in their Rides and we have no trouble keeping up with each other.

Now that I would like to see, the ride is much wider than the 140. I had a 140 and the one thing I liked about it's size was its speed across the water once you get going. I have also paddled a 135 for about an hour and totally could tell it was slower.
Side by side and same person doing the comparison is a true test IMO.

Mike I came by and looked at your Rides not sure about the new seats though.Ive always was interested in the 140 and was concidering one.May call for a test ride.

I am not understanding your concern regarding the seats. The Wildy Phase III seat configuration is the ultimate in comfort for a long day on the water. Anyhow...call me when you are ready to demo.
