I was curious how some of y'all fish docks? would flipping and pitching bring good results? or would running a lure of some sort close by be better? any input would be great thanks

We don't do a lot of dock fishing here in texas.. but it doesn't mean that it doesn't work. Rivers with boat docks can have redfish and flounder seeking protection from the current. We're covering rivers and embankments in the DEEP Reds DVD that I'm currently editting.

Yes, flipping would work. Crankbaits, Spinner baits, and plastics. The fish will be behind the piers, typically in the bend of the waterbody with current going out.

The reason i ask is that i have been thinking of fishing in the key allegro area down in rockport to find shelter from the wind on really windy days because i fish from a kayak.... i would like a couple options to try just to catch anything but hardheads. I figured there might be some sheephead or flounder held up in there.

If you are fishing a dock, get some live mullet. Put a split shot about 12 inches above the hook. throw the mullet under the pier and slowly bump it along the bottom. Make several passes around the dock. If you feel tension, count to 10 and pull up your flounder
