I prefer to do it girly style but am down to rough it. I just won't sleep for a couple of days. The 19tg-22 is girly style. If someone feels girly during that time, we might have a couch, floor or extra room for someone to puss in. If anyone is down to rough it in two weeks this month, I'm down. Ill meet you there, we can take my jeep or we can take your car or truck to save gas. I'd take the girly car but she would be pissed when it came back full of sand

I agree with the location...some of the best texas coastal water! I just wanted to post this cause it just fits. I have a small camper and got sick of dragging it around. Plus it's a small pop-up...it has AC but it's definetly not a "camper". I use to live so close to the coast for so many years it seemed worthless driving for hours to go to a place I have been many times before! And yet in that whole time I never camped on the beach (i mean like why...when a warm shower and your bed are minutes away!) Now I camp in the middle of a texas summer in a small tent and absolutely love it!! With the wind and even at 100+ degrees during the day it still gets around 75 degrees at night. Add the wind, a cool freshwater shower rinse (on the beach), simple food for dinner...after a day busting your [censored] doing some hard core fishing...I sleep better in a tent on a beach than I do in my own bed at home! So anyway I agree with yak'naggie, sleeping on the beach is hard to beat!!! This is a photo I took on my last trip that is now my screen saver. It doesn't make much sense, but it is a shot from my cheap tent, looking out the little window in the "door" looking at the morning waves. I took it because that was and is my paradise!

I just booked my girly trip but the A.C, bed, shower and nice dinner after paddling my arse off will feel so good and rewarding. It will make day two so much easier! I booked September 19-22. I have all day to fish while the other half shops all day. She loves to shop. If anyone is down, hit me up. The goal is to head to the close rigs but if seas are rough, I will be near jerry on outside of breakers. I have fished port a since I was a baby and this is my first year to be without my beautiful Triton......

I used coastline adventures and got some apartment on the beach/dunes in port a. address was like 700 sandcastle Dr..(I think). It is a house that they turned into apartments , fairly small one bed, one bath w living room and kitchen and was about $320 for 3 nights. I have never stayed there but have used coastline adventures many times. The house looked clean in the photos. The rates are for off season and cheap

I will try to shoot for that weekend. Hopefully the weather cooperates... it starts getting unpredictable in September. If it gets bad I may just yak baits out and try to land some sharks from the beach. Been wanting to try that.

If u get to lazy to paddle to the rigs, remember, late September and early October, you have the mullet run going and the bull reds. The giant tarpon should also be stacked on the end of the jetties, especially on an outgoing tide. Three years ago from my Triton, I caught tarpon, jacks, reds, kings, sharks, and smaks at the end of the jetty. I drifted and balloon rigged mullet, ribbon fish and menhadden. Unless wanting snapper, there may b no reason to paddle that far. I haven't been in the last two years due to my drama filled, time consuming, expensive divorce! Caught this 50+ incher at end of the jetty on bass tackle but had 300 yards of braid. Good luck.

Where are the jetties? Tarpon is on my bucket list, you just piqued my interest somethin' FIERCE. How far of a paddle is it to the end of them?

Only one mile out!!!! I have caught many to 60-70 lbs but have never landed the ones that are as big as the porpoises u see. I usually toss storm wildeyes at them when I see them and do well. All the big ones I have hooked have come on free lines and balloon rigs

Plenty of good fish at the Port A jetties. Just pay attention to where you are and what vessels around you are doing. Tankers do not have brakes. Here's a good-un from last weekend...taken about 300 yards past the buoy on the south channel edge.

That pilot boat makes one hell of a wake when he comes through. He don't slow down for anything period. The Jettys are at the end of Mustang island in Port A on the Corpus Christi ship channel. Prof Salt has a couple good vids on YouTube kayaking around the Jettys.
