Its called "spy baiting" or "silent capture". Looks like a different take on using hard and soft baits in finesse situations. Long casts with baits made for the technique and you literally crawl it back to the boat. They have hardbaits designed to sink that are made for the technique. Kinda surprised to see that some had props on them. Interesting concept and looks like yet another way to get to suspended fish.

Here are some examples and articles-

Just watched a couple vids on it. I'm interested! I like to try new stuff.

That might be interesting to try on Alan Henry. Clear water and more suspended bass than any other lake on earth.

This guy says don't use 6 lb line or bigger. Go ahead and bring that 4-5 pound line up to Lake Fork.

Must not have many stumps there in Japan!?

I bet the bait wouldn't have any action if the line was bigger.

I use 4lb leader on 12"-14" trout....not Texas bass. I'd be skeeered....

they must not have zebra mussels either. they would cut that 4-5# line like a razor blade.

Water is the only thing that's going to break that curse... and lots of it, lol.

Read a comment from a guy fishing the Great Lakes and he stroked them on it yesterday as the bite was off. His buddy tried other baits/techniques with no luck. He caught them good despite the light line, zebra mussels and other issues.

You're going to lose some, but sometimes light line is the only way to get them to bite

I have been doing something similar for years.

take a jerkbait, find a split shot size that 2 of will balance the flotation to neutral buoyancy and rig them about a foot to 18" above it. takes some practice to cast good but after you get it down you can sling it out there a good ways.
add one more tiny split shot for the fall affect, it will nose down but not much and if you twitch it some on the fall you will get strikes.

practice with the split shot size and you can run it at just about any depth you want, I use 12# on the baitcaster or 10 on the spinning gear.

us poor boys don't buy many 13.00 hard baits.
