Hey Guys I am headed to Kalispell Montana in the middle of August I will have 1-2 days to do some fly fishing. any suggestions on a river or creek near there and what flies I should take? I fished the Flathead River in West Glacier about 15 years ago but dont think I will have time to drive all the way up there this time....

I would Google up the shops near where you're headed, see what's hot and what's not right now.

Man, I hope you have a great trip!

Have no suggestions but if your looking for some company and share the cost of gas and fish stories, I would seriously think about it. I've always wanted to go but never wanted to go by myself. Let me know if your interested?

I've caught trout on the Yellowstone River in August by catching and casting live unweighted grasshoppers, so perhaps try a grasshopper pattern.

This thread makes me think of an old Frank Zappa song "Moving to Montana soon going be a dental floss tycoon."and some of those old fashioned Partridge and yellow soft hackles that work so well as a pale morning dun hatch starts.
