I'm looking at getting a new flipping rod and I've narrowed it down to a Dobyns Savvy Series Hvy action or a Duckett Micro Magic in 7'6" Hvy action. What's your opinion on either one of these rods? I also wanna double up the rod as my frog and A-rig set up. Thanks for the advice!

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either for flipping. They both will do fine for froggin' but I wouldn't throw anything that weighs more than 2 oz's on either. Just keep your A-Rigs small and fairly light and you will be fine.

I use the Dobyns 766ss, I have two of them, I use one as a A-rig rod and the other as a flipping stick

My own personal opinion is that the SS766 is tooo much of a broomstick. Unless you are needing something to yank out of some real heavy stuff this rod is too much. If you have a hard hook set, I don't suggest this rod. I sold mine to a club member who tried it and quickly sold it to someone else, stating the same issue. As for a frog rod, it'll be tough casting to be accurate. The SS-735 might fit you better. Or the Duckett your thinking about would be good too.

i have a duckett white ice pete ponds 7'3 heavy rod for jigs. it is without a doubt the best jig rod i have ever owned and tough as nials. people say they like em for frog rods but it doesnt have the bromstick feel i want in a frog rod with the heavy vegetation we fish.

If you are talking specifically about flipping I would go with the SS 766 Flip. It is a great flipping rod for getting them up and out or through thick or heavy cover. I rarely, truly flip anymore and mostly just pitch and would go with the SS 735 C. I have a SS 735 C rigged up with braid as a dedicated frog/buzzbait rod and love it. It should handle the lighter A-Rigs great too.
