Looking to fish some new water this fall. The lake levels in south Texas have been a pain in the rear for most of us, so I want to go north and east this fall and try some new lakes. Never have fished any where north of Austin or east of LaGrange, so I'm looking for some good suggestions.

If you could make three trips to three different lakes this fall in north or east Texas, where would you go?

I'm thinking Fork, Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn, but that's just a guess, not sure. Would love to get into some good top water action.

Fayette County, Raven and Houston county can be fun but both are very small lakes. Lake of the Pines, Caddo and the 3 you mentioned would be my picks.

Don't give up on your low water lakes for a top water bite. When you find the fish it will be the best spook bite you will ever have.

In 1998 when Amistad was at an extremely low level it took me 12 days of running and gunning each morning to find them. Those Bass stayed on that grass line until the lake caught water and the grass fell.

Concentrate on your 3 best area lakes and save your hard earned money. You will have to spend many hours on a new lake to even get 5 bites each day. There will only be 2 or 3 good top water areas on any lake and until you find those areas you will be donating your time and efforts.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

You need to book it to Amistad. You'll never go anywhere else (other than the occasional trip to choke once it fills up again)
