I am old school and I have to say this. Most jig skirts catch fisherman. That is why you have always heard as you mentioned about other fisherman staying with the basics.

The basics being the 2 or 3 at the most colors of the pray you are targeting at that depth.

Now what I have found out over 40 years of fishing skirted baits is that I can catch 30% more bass if the skirt and trailer is loaded with scent. I truly want the best of both worlds. Just the trailer scent is not enough. The skirt has a lot of material there that is being wasted if it want hold scent.

Silicone skirts will not help you in that technique of fishing. That is why all my skirts are living rubber poured tabs with Minnow powder, then each skirt is saturated in Minnow Oil until I get ready to fish it. All my trailers have Night Crawler poured in them and the baits make up a combination of scent that is the most productive for me in shallow water fishing.

I have been using this technique in Mexico lakes where you can tell really quick what works and what don't. My boat will use Minnow/Crawler pregnated skirts and baits to catch 100 Bass per day. Your boat can fish anyother combination and you will catch 70 per day. In my book this is a big advantage wheather fun fishing or tournament fishing.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.
