My fishing partner uses the gen 3 Revo SX and it is still in good shape just needed a little oil. I bought a pair of Lews BB-1 and so far they're fine BUT those paddle handles didn't hold up. Some of that outer coating is starting to rub off.

I think they're both going to be fine reels just keep in mind the weight and the shape of the reel and pick the one you prefer.

At first it was about the fish, now it's about so much more...

I have a little of both and I am liking the Lews Reels more and more.

Does anyone know where to find wide aftermarket replacement handles for the Lews Reels?

This. Both are nice reels. I use Revo gen 2 reels.

this sounds like me. I grew up with Abu, gpa refused to throw anything else... so I stuck with em.

Having had the chance to throw a few of the new lews, I'm compelled to upgrade my current reels to Lews when budget allows. Great reels.

I have both and love both. I have, however, found myself prefering my Lews more and more.

I like my Lews for casting, but my Revos for flip/pitching. You can't beat that rock solid drag on a Revo! I still have my 1st gen SX reels and use them constantly. The only thing I've had to do to them was remove a hair ball on occasion. laugh

Same here. Been Abu all my life, but now that I've seen the light I will be Lews for the rest of my life.

Both are a great reel. I fished the gen 3 stx for 3-4 months, and pick up a couple lews tournament pros. Needless to say I will be switching over to all Lews. We've got them here at fun n sun come check them out

Why doesn't BPS sell Lew's? If they were made by the same people, why would they sell Abu?

Why would they? They are trying to push their "house" brand or private label. BPS, Lews, and Abu Revo are manufactured within 20 yards of each other. They don't feel the need or desire to offer all 3.

Honestly, you really can't go wrong with either company. Good puck in your search
