I am familiar with the customs of fly fishing on rivers, and pulling fish into a boat.
I have been contemplating if it would be helpful to carry my net while bank fishing for bluegill and bass on ponds and lakes.
Do you guys carry a net while you are out bank fishing?
:edit: I mostly fish my ultra light spinning rod, not fly fishing.

I'm not a fly fisherman, but I haven't seen one have a net while bank fishing where I go

oh, haha. same still applies. that's what I use, and the only time I've ever seen someone use a net was on a turtle they hooked. I can see having one with you if you land a big one, but I wouldn't say it's necessary unless the pond had 6+ lb bass and such.

I don't, I carry enough stuff as it is. I like to move around and I don't have eight arms.

It might help you not get finned by bluegill. Other than that I really don't see any other purpose for it.

I carry one when wading. Jumping fish with hooks in their mouths can be pretty dangerous. You may think their done, but sometimes they are not. Small bass can be the worse!
