Great time with Captain Micheal Littlejohn (the fish whisperer). Talked to the hybrids into playing with us today. Limits were caught on hybrids with couple of cats and sandies. Awesome trip. Had a couple of hybrids virgin on board. Now they are hooked and addicted. They already got Micheal Littlejohn phone number on speed dial. Fishing with great friends drinking great beer. Finally got to break in my new St Croix rod I built. Awesome.

I had a great time these past couple of days. Booked a back to back trip with Michael (Tawakoni Guide Service). I recently got skunked consecutive weekends so couldn't afford the time nor embarrassment. With all the lake levels so low, I didn't expect too much heading into the weekend. That's why they call it fishing and not catching. Topping last year's trip was the last thing on my mind. On Saturday afternoon, my coworkers were each able to pull in their first hybrid and more. It was nice to rid myself of this bad luck. One may disagree and believe results occur when preparation meets opportunity. This morning, I fished with my friends. Michael put us on fish again. This time we limited out on hybrids in no time. Surprisingly, these were some of the biggest hybrids I've seen. A great trip indeed. Everyone involved this past weekend is already looking forward to doing more trips with their family and friends.

Man o' Man! Where do I start??? First off, had to say this was one of the most action packed trips of the year for us. In soooooo many ways. Tony, Cigga in Crew can Flat-out-fish! Cigga showed up w/ his BAD-to-tha-BONE new custom made rod. (I want one of thos by tha' way) Tony's new custom rod....well let's just say it was "CUSTOM" LOL

So, leave the dock at 8:30 and find a load of boats in all the usual places. We sneek off to ground zero....woohoo...it's loaded. Perfect south-southwest breeze kick'in bout' 10mph - forget spot lock - Lets long line!

So, get 5 rods out...drift going perfect...here comes the ledge. "Ok guys...marking fish ought to be in bout 10 seconds." Bout that time Tuan's rod off the back slams down and another is "hung up". I worked on the hung rod while Tuan fought his towards the boat. "what's up with this hung rod... the tree is moving!" Big fattie on...that pulls off at the boat!

We repeated this process about 5 times and landed fish, some doubles 4 out of the 5x's.

Big kuddos to www.teamcatfish.com for their fish grips. I managed to leave my net at the dock and the grips worked really good in a pinch to land the fish.

Fish moved off of ledge finally and took quick break to go get net back at slip. Saw roy unloading a ton of big channel cat gettin' ready to get his crew out on hybrids.

Head back out w/ crew across lake and as i'm running 30mph...see big red clobs in open water. Shad? Naw....HYBRID! Turn around and i'll be. Active fish in 25 -38ft! Woohoo! Managed to get boat back on the fish without spooking them. AS SOON AS THE BAIT's hit the bottom, fish ON! Did this until we got tired and ran out of time. Don't know how many doubles we had on...but w/ 5 guys fishing it was controlled "MAYHAM" on boat. We lost count of how many we caught...but kept a solid limit of 5-9lb'ers.

BTW, these guys can flat out fish. Every time I turned around they were netting fish, taking off fish...re-tying leaders. Heck, at one point I wondered who was guiding who.

One of the best bites i've seen all spring and summer!

You're right about the rod. Maybe I should get my roommate, who happens to be dating my sis, to build me ANOTHER custom rod.

"MAYHAM" in reference to the hogs. Quite clever. LOL.
