went to lake motor would start idle but would only bog if you opened it up. got home took cover of motor found yellow plugs on 1 voltage regulator melted together I had 2 extra regulators and put on it starts and idles good . the wires on the regulators were the same colors but different order 2yellows 1gray 2reds 1black . does this mater

would the voltage regulators alone stop motor from not bogging under wot or do i have a bad stater to. i do have another stater is there an easy to check stater

i was told stater has low windings and hi windings and hi windings are most likely bad because it starts and idles good.
