Looks like he came out of the stomach of a bigger fish and the digestive process has started.

If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life,
there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

Survivor of a fish attack. This is why you find crappie in those trees. If they get out, something big eats them.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

+1

I have had big bass hit my crappie (of this size) on the way up and then spit it out at the surface. The crappie looks just like yours.

Lol ...good one thumb

Fishing next to a big stump, I lowered the jig down and had an uneventful thump. As I began to reel him in, it got heavier ...fought it to the top and I got a glimpse of the beast. For a spit second, I thought I had a world record crappie nuts

It was a thick, fat 7-8 lbs bass ...a big'un for sure. The crappie looked like he got hit by a Mack truck but swam off after I unhook him.

Fishing was tough but I was able to catch a few. No big fish and kept 20+ eating sized ones for the skillet food

The lake is really low so be careful ...

Looks like a skeg or prop blade in the top of that stump.
