Refine your question. Do you fish from the bank, a boat, boat equipped with electronics, rod and reel info, tackle info, the time of day and of course the areas and patterns that you have eliminated would help get you started.

I have a 18 foot Express with a 70hp and trolling motor. I put a garmin Echo 550c locator on. I have a number of rods and just purchased some grubs and slab spoons (bomber fle fly). We start fishing at 0600. i have tried main lake points isle du bois, jordan areas. caught a few sandies when they when they are schooling but most are small. Not sure what to look for or how to locate them when their suspended.
thanks

I use to fish Ray Roberts a lot when I lived in Roanoke but usually moved down stream to Lewisville in June. Ray Roberts is a good sandbass lake but not a Lewisville or Grapevine. I use to fish a lot up by Wolfe island. What I am hearing lately is the dam to the marina on the west arm.

The west side seems better to me... Navionics maps help find humps, underwater points, and ledges. Also the hell/pet will help you find fish.
enjoying fishing with family and friends

Used to fish Roberts a lot. I would look for top water schooling Whites in August. Good areas would be from Culp Island to the marina; around Cates Point up to Wolf Island. Clear Baby Torpedoes are good. Also Tail Kickers work well. Look for schooling fish from daylight till 8-9 am. Sometime even later. Then check humps and ridges and use slabs or jigging spoons.

What Sandjohnny said, just wait on the drop off at Cates point and travel north on the drop on east side of cates then head to humps south of Wolf island in @ 25-30 fow. Good areas for 3/4 ounce silver slabs . Tim Wilke uses Cotton Cordell and mops up.
