I jig em. Size depends on the school situated on the ledge at the time. Timing is everything. Other schools may come through at some point (different size fish)

I never have ledge fished , is that basically fishing the edge of the river or creek channel ? I am a junk fisherman, if I can't see it I am in trouble.

What is the best time of the day to hit the ledges or do they stay out on them all day?

In the heat of summer, ledges are really good. Bass will cruise atop them in morning and evening and retreat to the overhangs or hold tight to the ledges midday. I always like fishing parallel to the ledge with a crank or a wacky senko. The bass love the flutter of that as it falls down the ledge.

Not that we will see this down here for a while/ever, but ledges really shine when you get some current over them. Typically from water leaving the damn or spillway, but wind generated current can help. Ideally, locate a school of fish on top of the ledge with your graph as these fish are active/feeding. Fish may pull up and feed at any point during they day, and it may only last for 10 minutes or less, so there is not a real "perfect" time to hit one. Just keep checking multiple ledges throughout the day. I prefer to position out off the ledge and throw a large football or structure jig strait in on top of it and drag it to the edge, then off and let it fall strait down the side. If you get into a few fish, start stroking the jig (similar to fishing a flutter spoon) and you can really get them fired up and catch a bunch quickly. Do this enough and eventually you will get some serious confidence in it. It just takes several trial and error/fail trips before it starts clicking for you.
Can't we all just get along....

Let me ask a dumb question....what's a ledge? Steep bank along the shorline or is this out in creek channels? What constitutes a ledge? 3 foot droop? More? Are ledges generally associated with main lake points? I have lot to learn with deep water fishing.
Thank you Lord for the gifts in my life

When I hear "ledge", as it relates to bass fishing, I think "river." Big, deep river.
Like Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas and St. Lawrence and all the watersheds connected to those river systems.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.
