I understand what a thermocline works and how it affects fish, but:
-How does time of year or climate affect the thermocline?
-How deep does a thermocline typically start to form? In other words at what depth should I expect one to exist at?
-Lake Lewisville gets in the 60' range in its deepest parts. I fish at around 40, would I be better served suspending my bait? Does Lewisville even have a thermocline?

Thanks in advance for any info(I've read the wikipedia page, concerned more with ?'s above and our area lakes)!

The typical depth in the dfw area is about 22 feet. It will start to set in with an increase in the amount of intense heat we have during the day followed by warmer nights. So far it's not coming into play on Lewisville YET. I'm still marking and catching fish much deeper than 22 feet. Best bet is to put your baits at the depth you're marking fish. Trust your electronics. I've heard a LOT more lies from fishermen than I have from a fish finder.
