During this time of year...very hot, all lakes are almost dry, and I don't own a boat, me & family want to go to Fishermans Corner to catch some good channels. I know you pay by the pound & you pay extra if you want them "cleaned". Setting up a trip with a guide costs about as much or more. I understand that what we could learn from the guide is worth more than the cost. We do want to hire a guide someday, but I don't feel strange to take the wife & son & catch some cats. Anybody afraid to say they went to a catfish farm ?

I don't see anything wrong with it if you are getting the family outside and doing something together doesn't get much better then that if you ask me. Also its your money spend it how you want

call AKA stinkbait tom. he's a guide and will show you and teach you a lot and you'll catch a ton of catfish.

I agree with what is said above. However I think if you go catch a limit of fish the guide will be cheaper.
I would take a guide, kids get a thrill out of a boat ride, and while I have never taken any of them out, their prices seem pretty reasonable I think. I have taken a lot of nieces and nephews fishing and they all love the boat ride a lot.

Look closely at the prices at the catfish farm. They are pretty pricey. Even if it costs a little extra, I like going with a guide for a couple of reasons...
1. As said above, you get out on the water in their boat.. 2. Cost is fixed - you know what you are going to pay before you go. 3. You can catch a ton of fish for 1 price - my group of 6 caught 150 eater catfish on Tawakoni this week with Salsa. 4. You use their equipment, bait, etc. 5. They clean the fish as part of the price... 6. There's no cleanup when you get home.
For me it's a no brainer, but everyone has their reasons for what they do. Regardless, good luck and have fun. That's most important.

Guide would be more cost effective, but nothing wrong with Fisherman's corner I've been there a couple times when I went to TX state. Just hope you don't hook into a big one$$$
