Try K1 Boilies off the shelf as a good starting point.

Ive used k-1 and wcb...blanked on them every time. I only make and use my own. That way you KNOW for sure they're flavored enough and correctly. Just Youtube and play with recipes. If you want tips message me.

Cream of wheat carp bait
1/2 cup corn meal 1 cup cream of wheat 3-tbls sugar 2-tbsp vanilla extract 1 cup water
Bring to boil- water,sugar@ vanilla extract. Add corn meal @ cream o' wheat-stir for 5 min or till real thick. Scrape out the mixture on wax paper, mould into a ball or press into 1" inch tin pan.Refrigerate till cold..roll into small balls or cut out small squares if in pan.. You can also mix one small box of strawberry jello in mixture while cooking mix..this works good too! Use as dough for bait. I catch catfish and carp on this stuff..

Things You'll Need 8 oz. semolina 4 oz. ground rice 4 oz. soya flour Large sealing plastic bag 4 eggs Mixing bowl Flavoring Fork Strainer ne Show (6) More Instructions o 1 Put the semolina, ground rice and soya flour in a large sealing plastic bag. Blow the bag full of air and close it. Shake the bag until the ingredients are thoroughly combined. This is the base mix for the boilies. o 2 Break four eggs into a mixing bowl . Add your chosen flavorings to the eggs. Stir everything together with a fork for at least two minutes so the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. o 3 Add 1 cup of the base mix to the bowl and stir it thoroughly with a fork. Allow the mixture to sit for five minutes, then add another cup of base mix. Repeat until the mixture is too firm to stir by hand. o 4 Add more base mix to the bowl and knead the firm paste with your hands. Continue until the paste has the consistency of putty and can hold its shape. Break off small pieces of the paste -- about marble size -- and hand-roll them into smooth balls. o 5 Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. Place about 20 of the balls in a strainer net and boil them for two minutes. Place them on a cloth and allow them to dry for at least 30 minutes. Repeat until you have boiled the entire batch. o 6 Put the dry boilies in a sealing plastic bag and freeze them until needed.

Just use sweet corn. No need for brand name boilies. Location is more important that bait.

No store brand will beat fresh boilies, at least not in my experience. That being said, some spots are better with corn, others with boilies.
Always use natural ingredients in your base mix for better results, dry flavours work much better than those fancy liquids that cost a fortune. Things like cocoa powder, cinnamon, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, etc. They impart long lasting flavor and scent, as well as natural color.
Make sure to freeze the boilies as soon as they are dry, then defrost shortly before your sessions.
