I'm a current aggie and me and my roommate have fished just about every little pond/river/creek we can find around the Bryan/CS area. It's just been a failure. We've caught tons of perch everywhere with little nightcrawlers. Tried stink baits, live small perch, nightcrawlers, hot dogs, and all different kinds of bass fishing in Gabbard, Bush Library, Police Pond, Gibbons, and Navasota River at hwy 30. Not looking to get a boat anytime soon unless I have to, but I DO want to catch some fish soon!

Navasota River at hwy 30 seems like it was the best by far. Didn't catch anything there, but didn't stay for long. It definitely seems like it has the most potential though! Wondering if anyone has had any luck under the bridge lately (not looking to get a boat just yet).

I've read that there are nice bass in gabbard and the police pond, but I have tried both MULTIPLE times for many hours trying mostly spinners and top-waters and haven't caught a bass larger than 5 inches. And only a few of those.

Let me know if anyone has any other tips for the area!

There are a few threads about this I've read and tried many of the places you mentioned. There are several places that were OK at one time or another. Pretty tough now.

I've heard fin feather has tons of small bass but I'm not sure how to walk out there. Don't eat anything from there either. Bryan golf course same story.

I've got a small bass tracker I take to Gibbons. It's OK, there is a good amount of cats and a few bass but it's heavilly fished for bass and there isn't much from shore.

Central park is stocked with cats, and use to have some bass. In the winter they stock with trout but I haven't been able to catch any.

Somerville in the spring seems to be the most popular fishing in the area. Check out the white bass somerville thread on here. There are a few bridges you can fish under on the creeks. Kayaks are populare. Let us know if you have any luck with other places.

You can hammer them at the Bryan Municipal Golf Course. I usually can catch quite a few every time I go, they love top waters run right along the vegetation.

Have you thought about getting a boat yet? You have roommates, everybody chip in and buy one for cash. Split expenses too.A Jon boat and paddle and anchor is better than banking in this neck of the woods.Used without motor or title is normally $100-150 and well worth it.Hell use it then sell it later.Wont lose.

Its been close to 7 yrs since i last fished the area but i use to do well on my kayak at lake bryan and summerville. Between classes or when i didnt have a lot of time to fish i use to fish the pond behind the movies and sams club. Im not sure if their is a name for it but i use to catch the heck out off decent size large mouth and perch. I use to throw roadrunners and plastics. Ive seen other targeting the mud cats but i nvr did because i wasnt brave enough to eat anything out of their. Once it starts cooling down tpw will start stocking trout in the parks. Get on their web site and see when it starts.

I do good at the bryan golf course on spinnerbaits. I fished gabbard park today and had 6 bass up to 2 lbs.

Try a couple different size and color spinnerbaits, I've been doing good with chartreuse or white with colorado blades

Hogys work well too
