Just bought a new to me 2011 skeeter with a 225sho. I was wondering how hard it would be to change the oil? And any other opinions from the experts that have had SHOs would be appreciated. Thanks

Good instructions. Only thing is DO NOT put in 7.08 QTS of oil back in it.

I have always heard, and this video confirms that there is no drain hole on SHO motors. But--- I had my boat at Diamond Sports (2011 SHO 250) to change the oil and decided to watch them do it so I would know the procedure. The mechanic took a side plate off of the motor downshaft, took out a plug, and you guessed it, drained the oil into a bucket. He drained all he could, tilted it up and then drained some more. No pump was used. So, is there a drain on SHO motors or not??

Yes sir you are correct. You can remove the cover on the starboard side of the midsection and there is a drain plug. Alot of people do not use it because they dont want to spend the time doing it. I drain all of them in our shop this way so that i can see the oil 1st hand and can get the most out of the pan. Hope this helps

Trim motor up 1/2 way and turn all starboard. Then just be ready holding catch bucket close because when you pull the plug, oil will shoot out. Then trim down to drain all of the oil. I then put 6 quarts in, run check for leaks. Check oil level, add oil till right on full mark.

The top line on the SHO is not a "full" line and is the same as for the bottom line. They are hashed and only represent the operating range of the engine. As it has been called to everyones attention many times, the SHO like all other four strokes, will "make oil" if it is filled to full capacity, there is no room for the oil level to expand.
