Ok Fastguy and Ed..... Well I've been on the water every day for months on end, minus a Florida trip..... The fishing has been pretty good. Steady some days, Game On Fishing the next. Still getting limits on hybrid every day, but the last 2 days has been like pulling teeth to get them. I can see 'em, just cant make em bite every time like they should !!!

I've been fishing Tawakoni since I was born, literally. One thing I've learned - If you want to catch hybrid and striper consistently this time of year, you are a sick individual....Wait.....Nooo..... You have to go out loaded for BEAR

That's it

That's why this time of year I've got downriggers, artificials, and live bait ready to go every day. Some days I've had to use all three

Then on the other side of the coin, some days lately I've had a 20 fish limit in the boat before 8:30. Like I said, the fishing has been good, just not consistant. The wind is still blowing. It has blown 20mph for about a year and a half now and forecasted to last until August 2019. That is killing us for water. We are currently 6.7 feet low. I talked to a pump station worker and they told me the absolute biggest factor in evaporation is heat magnified by wind. Everybody pray for rain! I know it ain't gonna happen soon, but its never a bad idea to pray anyway.

As far as tips go, well if I was headed to Tawakoni this weekend after the evil white fishes there, I'd start out on the main lake humps. Sit back in deep water with your motor off and glass the shallows for surface schooling. There are a few turns and gulls left that may help ya out, but some schools are blowing up with no birds. I've had much better luck early on slabs than sassies. The old Tawakoni Special - a Green Fiesta slab from
www.moestackleshop.com is still king of the Summer for Tawakamonsters. The Pikwi and Godfather are about as good, but I throw the Fiesta more - cause I Like To Party!

After the morning run is over, I'd run up in a cove and get some shad to drift. Most of the fish have been 12-18' on the edges of the humps lately and I've done better long line drifting them with a 1oz weight and 3' leader than sitting still. The fish are moving a lot, so you need to cover ground. You can also load up on sandies trolling a Hellpet. Just for crying out loud - do it on Lake Ray Hubbard

But for real.....don't troll where other guys are already fishing. If you jump on a spot and nobody is around - its yours troll it all day. Just please don't troll where others are already set up. The only other thing I can tell ya is cover ground. A thermocline is setting in and they won't be below 20-25' for very long anywhere. That makes Tawakoni a whole lot smaller.
I still have a few seats on the $75 Party Boats on August 6,8,13,& 20th. Call 214-415-0166 if you'de like to get in on a party boat or book a regular trip. I still have days open in August.
