1. I saw a bunch of little fish hugging the bank yesterday. Could these be baby catfish?

2. Do larger catfish eat baby catfish? The fish I caught yesterday seemed to be against the bank.

3. Bite quit yesterday @ 1:30pm and havent't caught a fish there since. If the larger cats eat the little ones, will they follow them to deeper water?

Always tryin' to learn! Thanx.

larger cats will eat anything they can swallow, including their own.

Thanx! That's what I thought. I'm trying to figure out why I didn't catch anything last evening and this morning. It may just be fished out, but no bites in 2 outtings is kinda strange to me. Wonder if they're focusing on the hatch?

Catfish will move in and feed on what they can find i.e baby cat, shad, perch the list goes on. They will quit biting, at least for me after noon. Then they go deeper after more baitfish.

That's what I was thinking. Getting snake bit 2 times had me scratching my head. Will this hotter weather affect the morning / evening bites? Thanx for the reply. I've got 30 days to get as much fishing in as I can. Then school starts... clap

Yes, they were black. About 3/4" - 1" long. Looked like there might be a yoke sac. Hundreds of them. If it's cats, looks like future fishing should be great. thumb

Marktx, I think you're right. Fished in a different spot today and there were tons of silver fish. I assume these were shad. Cats didn't seem to be as bunched up on them. Was slinging Danny King's Blood since that's all WallyWorld has left. Stuff's a lot different than the original, stay's on hook longer and the bite seemed different. Still worked though... grin

Thanx for the feedback! This forum has put fish in my belly, freezer and fed my kids in Montana.

You rock!!

Down where I'm at we have always called them mudcats and they make great bait for big ops as long as your patient enough for the bite
