This is probably old news but here goes. It is dark when we get finished on the lake, the boat ramp has 4-5 boats loading. I always turn off my head lights so others can see backing down the ramp. Tonight 3 of em in the water lights on freaking bright and cant see shhh backing down. So I have to wait till all the morons with 40 thousand dollar bass boats get out of the way. Does common sense even enter these peoples minds or is it just the I dont give a [censored] about anybody else but me society? Sorry I had to get that off my chest. And if your reading this and your guilty of leaving your lights on while sitting on the ramp, please do all of us a favor and kill them white lights. There is nothing to see in front of you at a 20 degree angle.

It sucks if you have DRL. I have turn off lights and put it in park to turn off my lights. As soon as its in gear they come back on. I know it sucks but for some we can't turn them off on the ramp.

I can't say as I had ever thought about turning off my lights at the ramp until reading this. However, I read this post yesterday, and then fished tonight. While loading up afterwards I thought of this post and turned off my lights.

For whatever reason, people do not turn their lights off after or before dark at the ramp as they used too. I see a lot of people at the ramps at Rayburn with lights on and nobody seems to mine or say anything.
I quit bass fishing and fished offshore and hunted for a long time and didn't get back serous until 2008.
The first thing I noticed and it was any ramp I went too was people not turning off lights. At first I chaulked it up to not knowing, they my opinion changed to people not caring and now I've come to the conclusion a lot of people are just stupid!!.
Thanks, Billy

I normally get out of my truck and ask them nicely to please turn off their headlights and just use parking lights. Most of the time they understand and do it apologetically. Sometimes they either forget or just don't know.
With automatic lights, turn the switch to off, and then to parking lights.
People really just need to effectively communicate with each other rather than just gossip and bitching about it later. That would solve so many of the world's problems.

I do not think that a bunch of people are idiots or dont care. I think if no one has ever told them this before, its not something that you logically think about. Its natural to have your lights on when its dark. I know I did not turn mine off until I read a post about this earlier this year. Then it dawned on me that it made sense to turn them off and have done it every time since. Maybe next time you can nicely explain why it is a good idea to have them off when backing down a ramp and more than likely the person will take note and change the way they do it. Calling them stupid or being confrentational probabbly will not solve anything though. I dont think most people "dont care", I just think they dont know.

They are idiots or they just don't care, it's not just the lights, it's the failure to get their boats ready till they get to the ramp, it's the keeping their boat at the courtesy dock while they wait on their partner to park and walk down which blocks a lane, it's the idling right off the end of the ramp so the guys gotta go slow when unloading. I understand the recreational guys that fish 4 times a year not knowing but these are tourney guys who do this once or twice a month. And by the way 2 lane ramps are for 2 boats at a time not for 1 right down the middle. Also if you see a see a guy solo tell h to dump it and give him a lift to it, saves a ton of time.
