Last weekend we got into some small black tips out fishing one of our reefs with some light action trout tackle. Anywhere from 1'-3' in length. First few were caught on artificials, and then we started suing the halves of sand trout we'd bring in. Such a blast. Anyway, going back for more action this coming weekend, and want to try and land one on my 8wt. What fly patterns should I be trying? And what about a leader? Lastly, anybody know of any shops in the Houston area that can hook me up with what I might need? Thanks in advance, I know it's kind of short notice.

i would check out the anglers edge off of post oak, orvis or basspro.

you're going to need a wire tippet, rio has a leader system that has a wire bite guard.

from what I've i found online, most of the shark flies are orange, but i think standard patterns would work, such as, half-n-halfs, deceivers, tarpon toads, etc. you may also look into flesh flies or flies that resemble bloody chunks of meat and drift them in your chum slick.

Thanks for the advice! I'm close to bass pro.
