In my case...
bogey vs. Tiger -------> Tiger would win every time
bogey vs. Phil Ivey ---> I would win every once in a while
bogey vs. KVD ---------> I might win every once in a while
so if I had to play one of these vs. a PRO I would choose poker just because my odds are the best.

Interesting question.
Definitely elements of both. Coach's equipment comparison is definitely valid. But I know when I go play golf that I'm going to get in 18 holes. With fishing, I might catch some fish; I might not. It's much more uncertainty than a round of golf.
Also agree with cokeman that golf is more about execution and fishing/poker have more of a decision-making aspect involved. Not to say that there isn't execution involved in fishing/poker or strategy involved in golf, but it's a valid analogy.
Overall, I'd lean towards poker. I'm a significantly better golfer and poker player than I am a fisherman though, so this input is worth what you paid for it.

Tourney Day is an 8 hour day. Round of golf is 18 holes. In golf you can double bogey every hole which is about like not catching any fish. You leave the course angry and wanting revenge.

I compare it to golf all the time. Working on casting techniques is similar to practicing golf swings. Losing a lure = ball lands in the drink A cheap rod and reel is a great prize for the losing team in a golf tournament.

Golf has and end game every hole. You will get there it is just a matter of how many strokes it will take you. Your job is to minimize your missed shots and apply presure to your opponet by pressing them into low precentage shots to keep up and ultimatly they will make a mistakes. ( if your betting)
Fishing is a poker game. Some play agressive and some wait for the table to thin out. Somedays fish bite and somedays they don't on the same presentation. You play the odds on your best place to catch fish on the given time of day, time of year, weather pattern, type of water body you are on and have to know when to stay or move to the next spot. When you run into a hot dealer that starts taking your money you reduce your bets or move tables.

I would def say golf.. There are decisions that need to be made throughout the day that affect your final outcome. Constantly buying fishing gear and the same is true for golf. Both take focus and precision. Poker is just a mental game, doesn't cost much to play unless you suck.

Both. Fishing is like golf because of the different technique/approach depending on the lake/course and weather. Angler/golfer aggressiveness and style of play/fishing style.
Fishing is like poker because of the luck & skills involved. Sometimes you just need to be at the right place and the right time/playing at a specific table while dealt with a good hand and flop.

Maybe it has more to do with the fact that I'm so bad at fishing and so much better at golf. I hardly ever leave the course angry, but I leave the lake angry all the time.

Your job is to minimize your missed shots and apply presure to your opponet by pressing them into low precentage shots to keep up and ultimatly they will make a mistakes. ( if your betting) I thought about this aspect from the opposite perspective. In fishing and golf, you have absolutely no effect on the opponent. It's you against the course/lake every time out and you hope that you have the best score at the end of the day. In poker, you're playing the opponent much more than you're playing the hand.

I've always told my friends that there's a BUNCH of ways that golf and fishing are similar. Of course, I'm absolutely addicted to both. Many of my favorites have already been said, but here's some more.....
- In both, there's specialized clothes that non-players think look goofy. - There's entire huge stores dedicated to both - Both have fair weather players and those that will play through anything. - You can easily gamble at both and some can't do either without gambling, even if it's just a sodie pop. - You can do both your whole life - Some like playing one home course, some prefer the excitement of playing new courses/lakes. - There's private courses and public courses/lakes - Planning a fishing/golfing trip is CRAZY exciting and your friends and you will talk about it for months leading up to the trip. - You will NEVER have enough cool new equipment to satisfy you. - You'll always know and talk about your personal best - You can actually compete and compare your results against a friend that's playing at a completely different facility. - Both are prone to lying and both honor sportsmanship - Both have fancy hats and ugly hats - Both have fancy glasses - Both are GREAT couples sports - Both can be played anywhere in the world, with variables that are unique to the region - Both are better played early in the morning or later in the day. - You can eat and drink while participating in both
And finally...............BOTH CAN COST YOU A MARRIAGE OR ALL YOUR MONEY!!!!

I think there's common threads in all especially the excuses at the end of each.
Angler "I would have had 20 lbs but I broke off a 7 or I would have won."
Golfer "I shot 83 with a double on 17 and a triple on 18 or I would have won."
Gambler "I had a bad beat on the river or I would have won."
