I think it's Japanese and has been discussed here before.
Somebody lost one on my dock and I might have to get more.
It's an EWG hook with the weight attached loosely to the eye of the hook. The weight also has an eye on the other side to tie on your line???????? This allows the hook to flop freely independent of the weight.
Just another Senior moment.

I made some, fished them for a while, I can't tell they catch anymore or any less than a Texas Rig
