 Breaking Abu Garcia veritas rods. Abu Garcia warranties rod.

Broke a 7'3" mh this morning just working a bait across the bottom. Felt a rock or something on bottom just flipped bait over and it snapped in half. What is going on with these rods? I have read several posts about these rods breaking. Bought it at BPS in Garland 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Have not tried to return it yet but don't think they will do anything about it.

Texas T, I would try anyway. And if not, get a hold of Abu Garcia and tell them what happened. I have a feeling you will get a new rod out of the deal. I yanked on a rod my fault, got it caught in a tree it was made by Shakespeare, sent it back to them, sent me a new one.

Personally I feel the Vendetta is a better rod over the Veritas. I've never broken a rod. Then again I don't beat mine to death riding in a bass boat either. Hope they fix you up

I believe the rods are made of fiberglass, and not graphite. Fiberglass allows it to be lighter than most graphite rods. As with any fiberglass, banging it against hard surface or each other during transport can cause break in the glass that weakens it and break even with a light motion.

Took rod back to BPS and as I figured they wouldn't warranty it. Went on Abu Garcia web site and read their rod warranty. They have a 3 yr. warranty on rods. Filled out warranty return form and sent it with rod and dated receipt and check for $9.95 for return shipping. This was on July 30. Got e-mail today and new rod is being shipped.Glad I checked their website.

the vendettas were the worst rods I ever owned. Took a chance on them last year and broke 4 over the course of a couple of trips. The guys at academy were probably tired of me returning them. After the 4th break, I gave up on the rod and asked to be exchanged to an allstar. Loved the way they felt but I couldn't flip a 1 lb trout into the boat without it snapping.

I broke mine I didnt have to ship it. I took pics, took pic of receipt and filled out info. They sent me a new rod without having to send the broken one back. Abu stood by their product so big props to them
