If you like braid and hate when it wraps around your rod tip, try going to 20 lb. braid and that will eliminate most of those problems. If you go with heavier braid, I would use a Mono or Fluoro Leader 1 or 2 feet long. I use Suffix Siege 8 lb. in the Smoke Green color. I really like this if I am fishing 20 feet or more down in the winter. No stretch, better feel, better hook set.

If you want to totally eliminate the Rod Tip issue and you're fishing less than 20 feet down, then go with Mono. I use High Vis 8 lb. Suffix Siege in Neon Tangerine (available at ProAnglerTackle.com) with a 1 or 2 foot Smoke Green Suffix Siege 8 lb. leader. No memory to speak of, not much stretch, and smooth as silk through the rod guides.

Recently tried the spider wire 'invisi-braid', mainly because I found it in 8 lb, and I love it. It's real smooth. I still use a leader, I don't think it's invisible at all, so some jigs I get back and others the line breaks at the jig knot. The power pro super slick is good too.

Thanks for the honesty Mr. Simmons.

I also use a 10'er 90% of the time, and a 8'er, & Dock Shooter the rest of the time. But I use a Baitcaster Reel which doesn't have line memory. It reels straight on, and spools straight off, so Line Memory has nothing to do with the Tip Wrapping on my rods. BUT, if you use a Spinning Reel, no matter what you use (Mono or Braid) you will get Line Memory. I have a Spinning Reel on my Dock Shooter, and it has the problem of line memory.

When you are looking to solve a problem, like line memory. This is caused by the way each reel lays the line on the spool. But this is just my opinion, and with it and a Dollar, you can get a cup of coffee.

I've tried it for a few weekends now - even though the crappie aren't really biting - and I really like it so far. Great sensitivity and very high vis.
It will fade a bit in this hot sun, just cut off first part. I also put mono on the spool first as a base and used a uni knot to braid to keep from slipping on spool. Tape works too.

good fishing!

Spiderwire 10# FlouroBraid. All the strength of braid and it sinks better. Seeems to me to be a little more sensitive also.

I personally wish you would try out some of the new Trilene XL Fluoro that is made for spinning reels and give a review before I spend 20 bucks.

I Personally wish you would Try out Bonehead 12lb braided or 6 and 10lb Bonehead mono. Cant go wrong 12bucks for a spool of braided. Its almost half the price as others out there and just as good or better. The Mono is 6.99 a spool and lot less memory. Our mono has a lot more tensile strength also. Has been test by a couple stores. Any questions please feel free to ask.Josh
