If it works for you. But I'd think it would be cumbersome and hard to throw.

For a c-rig keep it the length that you want to present the bait. If you're fishing 3 foot grass a 3.5.leader would work for example.

If you are fishing grass that comes up to 5' I've done long like that, 7' long leader for grass that comes up 6' etc

I rarely ever throw a c-rig but in that type of application I will.

I'll football jig or heavy t-rig everyhing else.

I use what we call a double palomar. Put the line through the eye, then back through the same direction again before tying your regular palomar.

palomar on braid, alberto for braid to fluorocarbon or mono, the alberto knot is easy to tie and I never had one break at the knot

6 feet is a good choice on leader length, crazy Alberto is the best knot that I have found to attach leader to braid.

I call that the "Improved" Palomar.

I reserve the Double Palomar name for this:

I just use the Improved Palomar since I haven't yet had it slip on me.

It is what I use.

And I'd guessed the 'double palomar' was putting the hook, or lure, through the loop twice! Has never slipped for me, and is fast too. Funny huh?

I just learned what I was calling the Double Palomar above (two overhands) has now been named the Nanofil knot.

Improved Palomar: Thru the hook eye twice, then form the bight and do the Palomar

Double Palomar: Form the bight and run it thru the hook eye twice then do the Palomar

Nanofil: Regular Palomar up to the overhand knot, then do a second overhand

A new knot I've just learned of is called the Rebeck Knot. It beat the Nanofil Knot on Knot Wars and did it by a wide margin. It's only good for hook attachment, not lures but it's so good I'm going to start using it whenever I can.

For braid, I just use the standard Palomar knot.

I use the palomar with braid, and I haven't had any issues with it. I find it quick and easy to use.
