so my girl decided she wanted to start fly fishing so i retired my great GLoomis adventure 7 to her and i upgraded into an Abel super 7. Her reel is on a TFO PRO2 7wt My reel is on a GLoomis Cross Current 8wt She and i are going on her first fly fishing trip next weekend and are stoked. Infact we just started tying flies. that fancy reel would look better on a custom rod to match it

Abel does lots of custom and specialty reels these days. They've recently done one for us at Casting for Recovery, with a portion of each sale going to help us teach fly fishing to breast cancer survivors. Mick, Abel did a good job on the CFR reel design. In general, the artistic finishes that they're doing are pretty cool. I think my favorite would be one of the limited edition DeYoung designs from a few years ago that had a close up the trout's head with a fly in its mouth. I think they had 2 or 3 designs like that. I've never fished with an Abel, but they do look good. 2000SVTI, I like the red and yellow design you picked. It makes for an interesting looking reel. I hope you enjoy the new toys!

Abels are great reels. The guys who recently bought the company are fine folks as well. They've done a great job co-marketing the CFR reel with us and continue to look for ways to further our partnership.
