Hey guys check out my new video. This is Part 1 of a 3-Part miniseries from my 4th of July trip where I took my kayak out to the oil rigs, caught some massive fish, then went to Galveston and caught a nice blacktip shark and flipped a mile offshore.

Haha I was camping on the beach for 4 days so I most definitely kept a couple. Fish tacos on the beach? Can't beat that.

I also kept a king... I caught 7 including one that went 52-53". That will be Part 2. Stay tuned...

It's videos like this that make me launch out of my recliner, send a pathetic email to my boss about how sick I suddenly am, and go load up the yak!

That was awesome! I have not gone THAT far out as I didn't want to go alone & my husband has not taken his yak into the gulf. Glad you kept some of the snapper - yum! Can't wait for Parts 2 and 3, though tipping over & seeing the coastguard helicopter tells me not to "call in sick" when I go further out into the gulf. Newbies like me who like the gulf as much as the bays (as long as I'm catching, of course), who have yet to turtle in deep water don't want to have that happen THAT far out. Practice self rescue isn't the same, besides I'm afraid it would happen as I'm trying to haul something in not having everything secured (newbie trying to figure it all out as the instructions so far have left me with more questions). Sorry for rambling (I am a woman, do I get a pass?), but that was an AWESOME video!

Haha, I'll tell you what, it is a rush! Day 3 with the shark and turtle was a day where many lessons were learned. I basically broke every golden rule of kayak fishing beyond the breakers and came close to paying the ultimate price for it. I'm hoping to incorporate some valuable lessons into the 3rd video with the hope that maybe a few kayakers can learn from some of my mistakes the easy way and perhaps prevent a few future accidents from happening. But we'll see... I'm no Spielberg so I gotta see what I can do with the footage I got.

I am heading back down for the Bluewater Kayak Classic next weekend and will most certainly be doing a few things differently! It's such a blast though!!! I'm very new to the salt and am totally HOOKED... having trouble getting overly excited about chasing sand bass in the creeks now.
