I just bought my first bait caster - Quantum KV700HX - any suggestions on eliminating line breaks during my casts? I have 10lb stren original on it. Any recommendations on a fix or cause would be appreciated. Aaron

Run a Q-tip through the guides and see if there are any nicks in the guides, if there aren't any, you got a bad spool of line. Unfortunately it's pretty common with cheaper lines. Trilene big game seems to be one of the most consistent. If not that, check your knot strength more/lubricate the line when you cinch down your knot.

Personally speaking, I won't throw less than 15 pound line on my baitcasters. Anything less makes me uneasy.

Do you backlash often?
You are probubaly making weak spots in the line when that happens.
Nothing wrong with Stren original that was the line to have back in the day before the newer stuff came out.
Fished with it for years and so did many, many pro's.

If you get backslashes sometimes a loop will grab the bottom of the line guideand break the line, happened to me this yr..

Ten pound is kind of on the small side for a baitcaster but it is most likely not the line's fault. All baitcasters needs the line to go back onto the reel with a slight bit of tension. If you make a cast and there are any loose loops of line on the spool as you start reeling it back those loops will slap around inside the spool on subsequent casts and eventually break in mid cast.
Just a small loop down in the spool left from a previous cast will result in line breakage a few casts later. After your cast always look at the spool to make sure there are no loose loops of line on there before you start your retrieve.

What is the weight of the bait you are throwing? Something the weight of the bait will cause the weak spots in the line to show up real quick. Good Luck
