My wife is from lebanon. We're in the process of getting her papers now. We tried to get her a fishing liscense but they said she has to have a social security number. My question is does she need a liscense and how would she get it sense you need a ss#? I called tpwd but they were closed already. Thanks!!

I would go to the TPWD office with her and her passport and ask what they can do.

Where did you go? I think all you have to have is a driver's license, but I do not know for sure.

The Feds want the SSN to try to catch dead beat parents. TPWD doesn't need it but they can't sell you a licence without a SSN because of the federal requirement.

All I have ever been asked for is my drivers license at Academy or walmart
I've been a trucker for yrs so haven't been able to fish as much as i'd like , but i'm trying to learn. My son goes with me , so that is cool,he is trying to learn also, we both want to become better fisherman.

You should ask the gar godfather aka duckhuntr35 aka Mr Kirk Kirkland. He deals with more than a few international clients.

You have to have a ssn to get a drivers license. Divers license to get a hunting license.

I ran into this this year with a guest from Costa Rica that wanted to go fishing. We went to Academy and the girl running the computer could not get it to submit without the SS# and didn't know what to do. We took our attempted receipt with us fishing in case we got stopped to at least show a best effort. But I was later told that we should tell the cashier to just enter their passport number into the ss field and it should work.

The Feds want the SSN to try to catch dead beat parents. TPWD doesn't need it but they can't sell you a licence without a SSN because of the federal requirement. This is why. alot of dead beat dads like to fish. and that's how they catch them.

I was in the TPWD Law Enforcement Office here in Houston just the other day. They had a NEW sign on the door that stated you must now furnish a SSN for licenses, registration, title transfers, etc.
I'm sure there are extenuating circumstances where appearing in person will get the person a fishing license, hence the affidavit ya'll signed in the Garland LE Office.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.
