Folks,

I had my sewer clean back in early March. This have been going fin until today. In order to prevent problems I have been very circumspect in running more solid things through drain.

This afternoon I went into my bathroom and saw the remains of a backup in my bathtub. I have ran the tub full of water 4 times and the water will drain, but when I flush the toilet I am still getting backup.

Any thought other than to call a plummer?

Well, could be a lot of things... Roots in the drain, too much TP, etc. You could try plunging the toilet. You could pull the toilet and see if there is a visible obstruction. You could plunge the tub...or pour bleach down the drain to see if there is a glob of hair stopping things up...or it could even be a blocked vent. I would think it's a blockage near the toilet.

I'm kinda thinking it might be the block vent. Does any know what the symptoms are of this?

i had this problem after having a lot of people over during the holidays, and just had the septic tank emptied not too long before that, so thought for sure it couldnt be that but called them anyways, guy comes out, was rude as and old hag said my pipes were collapsed because his equipment would suck anything out of the lines if it were there. charged 250 for 6 mins of BS. i went to home depot rented an electric snake with 50' of hose, used it and got a huge wad of unused baby wipes (dang kids) either way was only $40 and it fixed the problem.

We have a 50' snake. The last few times it has been nothing wrong in our lines but there has been a blockage in the city's lines. We do run the snake to make sure there is no blockage in our lines before we call the city though.

go get ya a 2-3 inch clog buster from home depot and run it down the vent stack as far as you can then do the same in the shower.



if its still backed up, get a 6 foot toilet auger. baby wipes did in my new neighbor. he called roto rooter which cost $300 to tell him he needs a camera for $350... i had him fixed in 5 mins... and got a 30 pack of bud light

When you say vent stack...do you mean on the roof? Just making sure. Sometimes when our washing machine is going there is a lot of gurgling coming from our kitchen sink...it just started this. Also last night the sink was draining very slow.. Would this be a vent issue? Thanks

Sewer line sounds clogged up.

Find your clean out plug outside of your house. Take the cap off. The stoppage is beyond your plug if there is water in the pipe. The stoppage is in your house if the drain is clear. You should be able to take it from there.

Years ago my 4" line to the city's line plugged. City crew came out, checked their line and found it was clear. The guys ran a sewer cleanout down the 4" and found it was blocked. Their cleanout snake opened the pipe. Now! Get this. The crew leader quietly told me about the CLOG BUSTER, and finished with "I did not just tell you about that." I got one and have used it several times thru the cleanout in front of the house. I have also helped the neighbors unclog their lines several times. Darn thing works.

I'm the guy who really did have his sewer system collapse. Crappy 1970's Fox and Jacob quality. Being as it is a slab foundation the only solution was to dig a tunnel under the house and replace the entire line. Total cost - 20K.

But our homeowners insurance paid every penny of it and never blinked an eye. Farm Bureau has a costumer for life I guarantee!
