but there are not that many fisherman out there, and if you look where you see them, you can get an idea of where to go

Today was my first time out at Lake Austin, and I have nothin' but good things to say about it...
1st, it is a constant level body of water so you don't have to worry about low water levels...
2nd, there are alot of fish in that water! If you want numbers and don't care about size or catching some bluegill -- hit up the numerous little coves lining the northern shoreline to the west of the 360 boat ramp, I know people are saying Travis for higher numbers, but if you get impatient there are plenty of small fish to catch in those coves and tributaries (between the 360 ramp and the damn)... if you want size look for areas where the water is deeper(12-15ft) that still has grass beds.(and there is definitely some big ol' daddy fish in there!)...
3rd, if you like fishing structure (i.e. submerged timber, grass, hydrilla, tree roots, long branches dangling into the water, cat-tails, cliff walls, boat docks) this is your spot... there is more fishable structure on this lake than any other lake I have ever seen...ever
4th, the scenery is pretty amazing in the un-inhabited areas of Lake Austin... It is like the Amazon in TX...lol
being that it was my first time out there, I can't give you too specific of an area to target, but there are not that many fisherman out there, and if you look where you see them, you can get an idea of where to go
Senkos and flukes caught the big fish today, but they were hitting topwater and mini-crankbaits pretty darned good too... best hours today surprisingly were between about 1300(when we started) until about 1700... the biggest fish was caught by another TFFer, around 1800-1830...
Awesome info. Thanks! I will let you know what I make of the trip.
