I never seem to be in right place at right time at the coast in or around Galveston. Going Saturday the 27th and by checking wind forecast the beach front is out (17mph SSW). Was told to try 8 mile rd @ west bay which is close to S. deer island. No boat just bank and wading any thoughts on this spot or other suggestions are much appreciated

I've been to 8 Mile / Sportsman Road dozens of times. It really depends on the tide, weather, and such. But you also have to look for signs of feeding fish. I highly recommend getting those Trout Support DVDs to learn about the signs.

Are you targeting a certain species? Fishing artificials, or live bait? I know a couple spots, I plotted on my gps. I fish off the rocks and jetties alot.

It's not the wrong places. It's the wrong time. You have to have green water and moving tides.
The birds and the guides follow mr out

Mostly target trout and reds. And will throw touts for flounder also. Not having a boat limits getting to green water and good marshy areas. I like north jettys and surfside to just think the wind is gonna mess it up for those spots on Saturday. Wanna hit the beach just can't seem to get there when conditions are good. Damn job!

Thanks freefall will keep it in mind. It was great growing up in Alvin I would go fishing all the time and it didn't matter that I got skunked a time or 2. But being 80 miles from coast now and money being tight it sucks going all the way there and get nada

went to 2004 bridge @ chocolate bayou early this morning. Found a few fish finally. 1 spec that was a keeper @ 16" 2 flatties and 2 reds that were 22". 8 crabs also. Wasn't a great day but will take it considering my luck so far this year. First keeper saltwater fish caught this year so far. Got til Sep.1 then it's all about dove, duck and deer.
