I purchased a new Stratos with trailer back in 2006 off the showroom floor. The trailer is now infested with rust... On the support beams, fenders, and all over spots of rust. I'm very worried about the stability of this thing and long drives. Are they not supposed to last longer than this? And do some dealers warranty the trailer. I'd really hate to drop a ton of money for a new one...

Thanks for any info

Hopefully you are just looking at surface rust. Sand spots and touch up. When I bought mine I got the paint specs from manufacter and bought a pint of touch up paint. Mine is now pushing 28 years. I had to do some welding and put some plates on 3 years ago. Main reason was the mfg. did not burn drain holes in front and center x-members. C-channel is much easier to maintain and should last longer. Mine is box and sure wish I had C. It is like many other things. You need to keep up on maint..

I would look into the cost of a new aluminum or galvanized trailer. Don't think they run all that much. Never liked painted trailers.

cost is relative. They are not much if you are pulling down $1m annual.

Sounds like you have been dipping your trailer in Texoma. The water up there is saltier than most people think. My trailer has quite a bit of rust from up there and my dads 2008 is already rusting.
