My friends and i live in Houston and are planning a trip for this thursday. Were is a good place to catch decent redfish and trout. we are willing to drive 3 hours to in the morning. any help would be great! like Were should i go? What bait i should be using? and the fish patterns in late July? thanks for any help!

Well, you have 4 tides every day this week, but the wind is from the SW, so the water will be pretty muddy anywhere you go. You should probably go to San Luis pass. The trout will be hard to come by in the surf if it is muddy. You can fish the channels behind the pass, but be very careful and wear ray boots or something. Best bet for redfish is cut mullet or shad on the bottom

Reds love water almost hot enough to hard-boil eggs. Serious! Be careful in that sun. My Dad used to say to me and my brother, "Boy, you're going to cook your brain!" CF?
