After a week of rain, and talking with Caleb (davidsonbasser) the pontoon is set up and on the trailer, the float tube is ready, the truck is packed and ready to head to the lake early in the morning.
I went out today to check the lake. Water Level is up some. I have some areas picked out to get to and wet a hook in. I have a feeling we will be "rippin lips"
We will post a report tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Left lake about 11 this morning. Started fishing a little before 7. Had one bite early on from the shore on a creme mini tail red/white. Not another good bite (had a nibble here or there) till almost 9, when my first fish came in. Bluegill, just to the right and slightly north of the area before the timber. Right along grassline. This was key for me today. Caught four bass along Northern shore, again right along grassline in 3-6 ft of water. Not very big, biggest 14 inches. Then fished parallel to the creek channel along the eastern shore. Fished east side of channel and caught two redear. If you are wanting to target them, creeks are the only safe bet right now, and muddy clear bottoms (look for "naked" patches in the weedbeds) are where they are bottom feeding at. Again, they were in 3-6 ft of water, RIGHT at the creek channel ledge. Man, those are the funnest fish on ultralight! Tried a number of different techniques, but bobber fishing with creme mini tails ended up being the only thing that worked today.
Good fishing with you today, Terry!

What a day Friday at Clear Lake was. A beautiful morning for sure. When we got to the lake, Caleb was there getting his gear ready.
As we pulled up I saw a yak laying there, a PU truck and a tent, no movement around the little camp site. Tried to be as quiet as we could be so not to wake up anyone. If you are from Keller and were camping thursday nite to friday morning at Clear Lake and we woke you. Sorry dude.
Once I got my toon set up and my sisters set up to bank fish, I hit the lake.
Smooth as glass, little to no wind....
Paddled out to a creek the Humminbird Pirannha 150 showed me a lot of fish in the area, I threw out a spinner bait with a worm tail. The best description of the color is a orange/bronze sunset/sunrise color. Immediatly started getting the tap tap tap. first set pulled it , second one. set to fast, third one is the charm. Pulled in a nice little 3/4 to 1 pound bass.
When i let him go, i lowered him into the water, he just stayed there looking up at my and saying. to bad sucker, I am going to tell my brothers and sisters. your here.
NOT ANOTHER BITE, the rest of the morning. O well, I was on the lake, Tried my best, used almost everything in my bag of tricks.
I did meet a gentleman from Decatur, who came out got is yak out and hit the water. Wayne it was good chatting with you Friday, May our lines cross again.
Caleb always good to see a friend.
I am not giving up on Clear Lake. I will conquer.
Till Next time everyone remember. When our lines are in the water there is not a care in the world............

Son and I are taking the yaks to Clear Lake tonight. Should be on the water by 6 - if anyone else is out holler! Hope to get some good time on the water - catching fish is a bonus!

I had a great time on Clear Lake sitting in the inflatable pontoon. Due to a long ongoing health problem, over the past 12 years I have not been able to get out fishing like I would have liked to. Recently a brand new drug specifically for my health issues that I am now on has been helping tremendously.
Now just to get out on the water, not a worry in the world. At one with what God has made.
Nothing else needs to be said.

My family and I were gonna go out to clear lake again today. Took my mom and dad out there last night and stood on the dock and watched a rather large channel cat cruise by and two bass that were about 4-5 pounds. Didn't have fishing gear...of course thats just the luck! LOL. Today though, we ventured up to Lost Creek in Jacksboro. Cool lake, caught my first smallmouth there a few years back. Dad and I fished and both had bites, including dozens of gar (one was a 5 footer) but did not manage to land any fish. Still a good day on the water. Gonna try to hit up Clear lake or another lake out here in the grasslands this week. Terry, that new job came through. Should start next week. Have all this week free so I plan on doing some good fishing before the new job starts next week, and the grasslands is gonna be my area of concentration. If you or anyone else wants to fish, PM me. Don't mind fishing the bigger lakes or even taking you out to some of my secret holes. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

well said WWJ
I still find it amazing that I can be out fishing, not catching anything and not be worried about the not catching anything.
Just the peacefulness that comes to my soul is therapy for me.
God bless,

News side (lost creek) is deep and usually pretty clear. That rock wall is just by the "twin lakes" community center down 59, right behind it actually. I stick with c-rig lizards and cranks on that side. My smallmouth came off those bluffs actually. The other lake is known as lake jacksboro. Its not as deep but is usually failry clear. It has more weeds and grass though. Good for spinnerbaits, jigs, and tubes. Personally, lake jacksoboro side has bigger fish. I have caught dozens of 6-7 pounders over there. Nothing bigger than 4 in lost creek side, though for scenery its cooler. Tons of dink bass. TPWD is actually gonna cull some out on that side to let hem grow bigger, and stock the ones they take out in Maplewood Pond in WF, which is gonna be the first urban catch and release ONLY largemouth pond in Texas. They are going to purposely stunt the growth by stocking so much bass they wont grow over 14 inches. It was a plan to get the kids in the city more involved and give anyone who wants to catch a fish a super easy target.
