I'm going to lake fork in a few weeks for the purpose of catching bowfin. Fork is supposed to have a good population of them. I've never caught one and really want to, especially on a fly rod!

I've caught a bunch of them in Louisiana while bass fishing. About 20 years ago I caught a 14 lb'er crappie fishing with minnows on Toledo Bend.

I heard they are good table fare, something that ugly, I won't put in my mouth. That said I love Cobia

I lipped the first one I ever caught many years ago and haven't tried to lip one since...

where I come from they call them Cotton fish...don't know why...anyway...

we used to hang them on a stump in the river and cut the tail so it bled out...some of the other people that fished the river would come along and pick them up to eat...

They are called cotton fish because when you cook them they are like eating cotton.

Great video Tyler! It's gonna be hard fighting through the catfish with cut bait but I think the bowfin at that spot are thicker ( hopefully).
