Boat ran fine for about 30 minutes yesterday. Then it began to bog down at about 2500 to 3000 rpms off and on and when I tried to give it more gas it was worse and more frequent. could not get 5000 rpms. It idled and started fine.I feel like it is something fuel related. When I got home I squeezed the bulb and it was very soft. Maybe a bad bulb? Any simple things I can check myself ?

2000 Yamaha Vmax 200.I had the plugs and filter replaced within the last year. The inside of the clear bulb on the filter looks a little milky colored. Is there anything visual I should look for?

BTW.. I run this boat 2 or 3 times a week.

milky is not a good sign...usually an indication of water...

I took the boat out this morning. I use Ringfree in my gas religiously. I never thought I would need anything else. But I had a can of Seafoam. I put a pint into about 12 gallons of gas. The boat was still acting up when I first went out but as I keep running it got better and better. After running at 3 to 5k RPMs through about 10 gallons it stopped lurching all together. Not only that but the hole shot is like a spotted ape on fire now. I do a lot of side imaging and I think all that idling got things a little gummed up.

jerry do a full decarb on it if you have been running regular oil then switch to full synthetic, it will amaze you at the difference in how it runs.
did my old 82 johnson 175, smoothed everything out and even the inside of the prop looked much better, no more black crud at all.

2 cans seafoam to 5 gals gas/oil and idle for about 10 mins, shut off, let sit 2-3 hrs, idle 10-15 mins. shut off let sit overnight then go run the krap out of it at the lake. do all the idle/sit on the muffs but be sure its not somewhere that black stains will matter, the carbon will stain concrete good
