I hadn't fished since before the rain started so I decided to see what the lake looked like. Launched around 7:30am and checked a few places north of the island before picking up Bobby and Jay at Lakeview marina at 8:00. No fish but tons of bait everywhere. I picked them up and headed south. As we were headed down the lake I noticed that there was quite a bit of debris in the lake so be careful with the hammer down. The water temp had come down a couple of degrees to 82. We actually gained 3 inches in the lake from this rain event. Woohoo! Checked south of the island to find very few fish. We caught a handful. Moved to a ridge on the west side and picked up 10 on a 24' slope. The fish were moving around a lot and it was very tough to keep on them early. They were around but moving so fast that you were better off sitting still and letting them come to you. Next we went hump jumpin.I made my rounds and picked a few off here and there. Coming back to check a hump the lake lit up in 30'. They would pop up and then go down only to pop up again on the other side of this hump. I watched this for about ten minutes. Up,down,up,down. There were a couple boats chasing. I went and centered up on the hump and we began whacking. They were using this subtle hump in 30 feet to corral the bait. We ended up with over 90 fish and 30 healthy ones in the box for the grease. Lots of doubles and 15 inch sandies. We caught a few nice size kittys as well. Bob actually caught a double with a fat sandbass on the fly and a descent largemouth on the slab. Good times! As pretty as the morning was, there was very little wind and became pretty warmish around noon. We left them biting and got them back to the dock by 1. The lake is in good shape right now, better than the past few summers. At least for now. All fish caught on Ole Ugly slabs and flies.

Thanks Karl and Dennis. Johnny,I don't know about rounded up. They seem to have a mind of their own lately. I don't know whats up with all the top water lately. Still better fish dropping down though.

Went today and slayed. The fish stayed up for hours. Lots of dinks with some quality fish mixed in with lots of doubles.Nothing on the humps with everything chasing micro shad. All the fish we caught today were spitting micro shad at us when we were removing the hooks from their faces. We saw schooling from the mud flats to beyond boat club point. Ridiculous! Lots of boats chasing. Most played nice but you always have that one jackwagon. You know who you are mister big motor in the middle of the school multiple times! The twelve other boats in the group without their heads up their rump appreciate you. Water temp when we launched was 82.5 and 87 when we left at 1:00. Ole uglies and rooster tails did all the dirty work. I usually try to stay out of the boat shows but today it seemed like all the fish in the lake were on top.

Ya, Lip Rip I witnessed the boat cruising through the schooling fish, also saw a CC jump out in front of the pack. Not sure which one you're referring to, LOL. I fished on every spot I knew and marked fish... but I must not have been holding my mouth right as it was a tough day for me. I saw some surface action to the west of where the boat show was happening but about the time I was in casting distance and party boat ran right through them. I knew then it was time to pack up. On the other hand, Friday wasn't too bad, besides it was hot and no wind.
