Sure do miss catching those. Used to fill buckets with em when i was a student at UT. Back then it was Town Lake, Now Lady Bird, and the best spot for em was below Longhorn Dam on Pleasant Valley Rd off East First.

They loved helgrammites and Meal Worms! Used to buy those at an old bait shop/fruit stand on East First.

That one has exceptionally bright colors. Beautiful. Good fighters on light tackle

MuskieBait here on TFF,but from Toronto caught it June 22nd near Bass Pro on a creek nearby.(mason creek?)I would never have thought a fish that pretty could come from that area.I would think you'd be looking at crystal clear water to get something like that.It maybe like aquarium fish and its the water but more important, what they eat to get those colors.Anyway amazing looking fish for sure.

Man that's gorgeous. Only thing close to that is the punkin seed we get here in LA w real bright turquoise n orange, but they don't get big. They do loom good in my aquarium though... Question on these Rios.. never caught one.
My girl and I will be down on the hill country before summer is over..maybe labor day. Thinking about doing the final, or guad... My girl has never been anywhere in tx so I wana show her my states best.
Where is my best chance that time of year to get on some real trophy size Rios? I'd love to have one in my tank but no way of get it home to LA alive... But I'd love to catch some....she is a die hard bream gal

September is a super time to catch Rios! They are very active that time of the month looking for food before the cold weather arrives. They will be hugging the banks and fairly easy to catch if you find em. Hill Country Rivers and Creeks should be good. fish
