Headed to Tawakoni this coming Sunday and looking to troll for sand bass and whatever else will bite. Anyone have any suggestions on lures and spots? Appreciate the advice.

Greenville pump station is usually a good spot for sandbass...
Humps out from the brick structure and the white building...

If on the south side...out from wolfe cove, dam, off the major points... Lake is almost 6.5 low.. Be careful even of you know the lake

Look for fish in 10-15 feet on bottom... They usually bite

If you are trolling, hard to beat the hellbender pet spoon rig

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Rig pet spoons up. Follow above advice. When you get a double hookup throw a marker bouy to the location that you just hooked up behind the boat. Cutt-off hell pets. tie on slabs and proceed to fill the cooler.

Dont troll too close to boats that are anchored and fishing.

Don't troll close to boats or mess up the stripers that are running!

Some people (like me) keep a hookless 2oz slab rigged up for people that do...

Any point on Tawakoni holds sand bass...some more than others. I can find pkenty of points to troll anf limit out quickly. If you see me trolling, please don't anchor up or set up on my trolling path until I leave. Most trollers won't troll through schooling fish. I won't...and never do. There is plenty of water for all to fish...and plenty of fish in all of it. My preference is generic DD-22's from Academy...about 3 bucks each and pet spoons. A tad cheaper than Hellbenders and yhey have rattles which help in my opinion...especially when the bite is slow.

Dan-O. Do you leave any hooks on the DD22 or simply use it to troll the pet spoon?
Thanks or any advise!

No hooks...but on Tawakoni, you very well could catch a hybrid on it if you left the front hook on...
